Posted by matta | Posted in Uncategorized | Posted on June 6, 2016

In 1/2A & M we have been looking at storyboarding and the importance of one when planning a film. We watched a short Stop Motion Film called ‘Candy’.

We then completed a story board on the movie, thinking about the most important parts of the movie and drawing them in order.

Homonym Fun in 1/2ST

0

Posted by reneetimion | Posted in Uncategorized | Posted on June 1, 2016

Homonyms are words like ‘fair’ and ‘fare’ which sound the same but are spelt differently and have different meanings; or words like ‘row’ (a noise) and row (to row a boat) which have the same spelling but sound different and have different meanings.

Types of homonyms:

homophones – words that sound the same (fair and fare)

homographs – words that look the same (row and row)

A game you can play at home is ‘Homonym Memory’. All you need is a table like the one below (you can make this easily in Microsoft Word using the ‘table’ button) or hand draw.

Steps to play:

  1. write and draw your homonyms in the chart
  2. cut out your pieces
  3. scatter them on a table face down
  4. take turns to pick up two cards
  5. if you get a pair, you keep them and get another turn
  6. the person with the most pairs at the end of the game is the winner

Happy Homonyms!
